1.7 Million Power Banks Recalled Since March: How SolidSafe™ Solves the Problem
Since March 2025, more than 1.7 million power banks have been recalled for overheating, swelling, smoke, or fire. The cause is not random. As manufacturers cram more capacity into thinner designs, the flammable liquid electrolyte inside lithium-ion cells is pushed past its limits. When stressed by heat, damage, or overcharging, that liquid can vaporize, leak, and ignite instantly.
BMX (Better Mobile eXperience) is addressing the crisis with SolidSafe™, engineered with solid-state cells for safer, longer-lasting power. By significantly reducing the liquid content found in standard lithium batteries, SolidSafe’s solid-state chemistry lowers fire risk and extends durability while still delivering the fast performance users expect. In testing, lithium packs ignited under drilling and nail penetration while SolidSafe cells kept working with no thermal reaction.
The SolidSafe™ lineup includes three magnetic models: 5K, 10K, and 10K + microSD. All feature 15W Qi2 wireless and USB-C charging in slim, airline-compliant sizes, with LED displays, integrated lanyard cables, and snap-on convenience.
After raising over six figures on Kickstarter and earning a Projects We Love badge, BMX now makes its IFA debut with SolidSafe™, bringing proven safety and smarter charging to a market ready for change.
