Swidget™, a technology company that aims to simplify one’s smart home experience, will announce the availability of its modular, low profile power outlet at CES 2019. Comprised of both a power outlet and interchangeable smart inserts, Swidget allows users to customize their smart home experience using a home’s existing wiring. Swidget separates itself from traditional household power outlets through easy-to-use, snap-in inserts that transform a traditional living space into a smart, connected environment. There are currently 11 inserts available, including Z-Wave Control, Wi-Fi Control, lighting and USB charging, with the company releasing additional inserts regularly, making Swidget “future proof” for consumers.
With more than 50 percent of homes in the U.S. expected to be smart equipped by 2022, Swidget is not just another household accessory, but rather a device that makes smart homes simpler. Swidget is easy to install and use and has the ability to adapt to changing lifestyles and at the same time has the ability to evolve with new technologies whenever the user needs it to. Swidget provides a solution for those that want to begin their smart home journey or expand their current system without adding unnecessary clutter.”
Without an insert, the Swidget outlet functions identical to a standard wall outlet. Once an insert is snapped in, the outlet transforms into a smart home device that works with all mainstream smart home platforms, either through the dedicated Swidget App (via Wi-Fi) or a popular smart home hub (Z-Wave or ZigBee). Select Swidget inserts will work independently, such as the lighting, aromatherapy, and USB charger with no additional connection.
Swidget’s outlet and inserts include all necessary equipment for installation and will be available at Swidget.com or on Amazon in January 2019. Single Swidget outlets are available for a suggested retail price of $39.99. Insert prices start at $5.99 and will vary depending on connectivity and functionality.
