Many of the great advances in human history have been enabled by new materials, from the Iron Age to the Silicon Age, which enabled computers, the Internet, mobile phones, and so many other products.
META (Meta Materials Inc. NASAQ:MMAT) is a developer of high-performance functional materials and intelligent surfaces that are scalable, sustainable, and efficient. Through applied physics and advanced design, we are pioneering a new class of multi-functional materials-called metamaterials — which have engineered properties that go beyond what is found in nature.
META is developing transparent 5G/6G reflectors and antennas to enhance indoor and outdoor coverage. Our sustainable solution, which has been successfully tested by Sekisui Chemical in Japan, won a Lux Research Innovator of the Year award in 2021.
The lightweight, flexible, transparent film requires no power or network connection, and may be applied to windows, building facades, and interior surfaces. Sekisui plans sample sales in 2022 and aims for sales of 6 billion Yen (~$53MM) in 2026.
Metamaterials, intricate nanostructures invisible to the naked eye, have been produced for decades in labs. META is pioneering the capability to rapidly design and manufacture metamaterials at production scale, with proprietary roll-to-roll equipment which will come on line in H1:22, and we recently acquired a facility with capacity to produce over 7 million square meters per year.
