At IFA 2023, Ambient Photonics announces a new customer and design win with Chicony, one of the world’s largest keyboard manufacturers, and new strategic relationship with e peas, a supplier of ultra-efficient power management integrated circuits (PMICs). 

Sustainable Keyboards

Ambient has enabled Chicony to develop next-generation battery-free, wireless keyboards powered by indoor light. The low-profile design achieves a smaller carbon footprint by eliminating disposable batteries and using recycled materials while offering the full range of features that consumers demand: high-precision keys with a mechanical feel, quiet typing and a streamlined design. The companies aim to bring the offering to customers in the keyboard market in early 2024. Working models will be on display at Showstoppers and Ambient’s booth #404, Hall 2.2, Sustainability Village. 

Energy Harvesting Technology for Connected Devices

Ambient and e peas are pairing Ambient’s breakthrough high power density, low-cost solar cells with e peas’ PMICs to maximize the conversion of endless energy available from indoor light to power electronic devices. Their joint solutions dramatically improve the availability of connected devices so that device manufacturers can fully eliminate disposable batteries from their products. The companies aim to power a new category of remote controls, keyboards, sensors, and electronics shelf labels that never require battery replacements.
