ShowStoppers extends the rights that are at the heart of GDPR to all of our exhibitors, and to all journalists invited to attend ShowStoppers events. These rights include the right to know what data we collect about you, to correct that data, and to delete it.
ShowStoppers produces industry-leading press and business events spanning the US, Europe and Asia, including, but not limited to, ShowStoppers @ CES, ShowStoppers @ Mobile World Congress, ShowStoppers @ Mobile World Congress Americas, ShowStoppers @ NAB, ShowStoppers @ CE Week, and ShowStoppers @ IFA. These events are independent, or produced with partner companies, organizations and tradeshow managers.
ShowStoppers is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Statement describes policies and practices regarding the collection and use of your personal data, and sets forth your privacy rights.
ShowStoppers operates internationally and we are committed to complying with data protection laws. ShowStoppers is a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Ohio in the United States. The servers that host the ShowStoppers website are located in the United States, and any personal details you provide us will be processed by ShowStoppers in the United States. ShowStoppers expressly excludes any representation or warranty, express or implied, with respect to the information available on this Website. ShowStoppers makes no representation about any third-party websites that may be accessed via links from this website. By using this website, you agree that the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of laws principles, will govern all matters between you and ShowStoppers with respect to your use of this website.
Collection and Use of Information
ShowStoppers collects personal information in order to provide you with our services and products. We collect information you give us, and information we get from your use of our services and products.
We collect information you give us, for example, when you create an account with us; register to our events; or subscribe to our mailing list. The information collected includes (but is not limited to) your name, job title, employer name, address, email, and work or mobile phone number.
From time to time, ShowStoppers may receive personal information about individuals from third parties. This may happen, for instance if your employer signs you up for an event, or when a company exhibiting at a ShowStoppers event provides a contact list to ShowStoppers.
We process your personal information for account administration, to deliver the products and services you require, and to inform you of ShowStoppers-related events, meetings, content, initiatives and other benefits or opportunities associated with ShowStoppers or, for example, a tradeshow with which we partner. ShowStoppers may also use this information to help ShowStoppers understand your needs and interests to better tailor our products and services to meet your needs.
We may contact you by any means of communication for which you have given us contact details and authorized, including e-mail, telephone, and post. You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe button present in all of our electronic messages or by using the Contact Us section below.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information to anyone and do not otherwise reveal your personal data to third-parties for their independent use unless (1) you authorize it, for instance by registering to attend a ShowStoppers event; or (2) you give permission to exhibitors and sponsors to scan your attendee badge at the event; or (3) the information is provided to comply with the law, enforce an agreement we have with you, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or the rights, property or safety of our employees or others.
Please note, however, that unless you indicate to us that you do not want your personal information used or shared for promotional or marketing purposes, we may provide lists containing your name, company, title, address, phone number and/or e-mail address to companies that exhibit at ShowStoppers events and to affiliates of ShowStoppers for their direct and indirect marketing purposes, and we may use your personal information for the same purposes. When we do provide mailing lists to third parties, we enter into agreements with such parties requiring them to comply with all applicable laws, prohibiting further distribution or disclosure of the lists to other parties, and limiting use of the lists to a limited number of mailings or communications, after which the lists may not be further used for such purposes. If you do not want your personal information used by us or shared with affiliates or third parties for promotional or marketing purposes, you may opt out of having this information shared or used for such purposes by some or all parties. ShowStoppers reserves the right to compile, save, use within the scope of our activities, and analyze any and all data (contact and personal data, use history, etc.) that we collect from you through the website. We use the personal information that you provide to us for our internal purposes, such as responding to your requests for information, contacting you, conducting internal analyses, and processing and completing orders and event registrations. We also use your personal information to communicate with you, such as, for example, to provide you with newsletters, press releases, or information relating to programs or activities that may be of interest to you.
We may share the personal information you provide to us with other companies we have hired to provide services for us. These companies – our vendors – are contractually bound to use personal information that we share with them only to perform the services we have hired them to provide.
We may also collect and group demographic and preferences information, responses to surveys and other personal information that we collect from you into an aggregate, non-personally identifiable form for disclosure to our existing or potential business partners, affiliates, sponsors or other third parties. However, please be assured that this aggregate data will in no way personally identify you or any other visitors to the website.
We may also collect general, non-personal, statistical information about the use of the website, such as how many visitors visit a specific page on the website, how long they stay on that page and which hyperlinks, if any, they “click” on. We collect this information through the use of “web beacons” or other tracking technologies, which are discussed in greater detail below. We collect this information in order to determine which areas of the website are most popular and to enhance the website for visitors. As with other aggregated data, we may disclose such data to our existing or potential business partners, affiliates, sponsors or other third parties, but this aggregate data will in no way personally identify you or any other visitors to the website.

You also have a right to rectify the record of your personal data maintained by ShowStoppers if it is inaccurate. You may request that ShowStoppers erase that data or cease processing it, subject to certain exceptions. We provide many choices in relation to our marketing communications, but you may also request that ShowStoppers cease using your data for direct marketing purposes by using the details set out at the Contact Us section below. In many countries, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you have concerns about how ShowStoppers processes your personal data. When technically and operationally feasible, ShowStoppers will at your request provide your personal data to you or transmit it directly to another controller.
ShowStoppers retains data for the duration of the customer’s or member’s business relationship with ShowStoppers. When you submit personal information by registering to attend a ShowStoppers event, for example, you will be given an opportunity to opt out at the time of submitting your personal information to us. Unless you opt out, you may be added to our list of users who will receive promotional and marketing communications from us and our partners and other third parties.
If you initially elect to not opt out and then later decide that you would like to opt out, you will have the ability to update this registration data. Please keep in mind that although ShowStoppers strives to update our mailing list database as frequently as possible, it may take up to ten days to process e-mail requests and four to six weeks to process postal mail requests, during which time your information might be communicated to another party in connection with a mailing list. Additionally, you should be aware that any mailing lists that have been provided to third parties prior to your election to opt out cannot be retrieved by ShowStoppers, and you cannot retroactively opt out with respect to such third parties. As noted above, however, when we do provide mailing lists to third parties, we enter into agreements with such parties limiting use of the lists to a limited number of mailings or communications, after which the lists may not be further used for such purposes.
We are committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We have implemented appropriate physical, technical and administrative safeguards. We update and test our security technology on an ongoing basis. We restrict access to your personal data to those employees who need to know that information to provide benefits or services to you.
