ShopSee: Slicing through the noise
In the midst of all the noise, clutter and digital overwhelm currently in the world, when another new start-up emerges, we tend to just gloss over the details and move on quickly, as most come and go as frequently as M15 busses on Second Avenue.
Rarely do any have a real scalable revenue model, some even not aware that such an element is crucial to real sustainable success, hence their brief life cycle. Others with good ideas simply miss the crucial window of opportunity, wherein lives the elements of timing and deep foresight- an actual vision in confluential lockstep with the surrounding emergent market.
But once in a decade or so, an idea comes along that is just right for its place and time. It anticipates the market early, always ahead of the curve, begins to build, pivots as needed and arrives as does its opportunity for insertion, scale and success- all with a real product attached, not an imaginary smoke and mirrors approach.
These events are rare and seem to happen in clusters as groupthink or hive mentality permeates the ether and many in similar vein arrive at once. When Google finally hit the market, it was the 23rd such entry. Anyone remember Ask Jeeves? Of course we do. But what made Google hit its stride while others faded? Fate? Capital? Friends in high places? Luck? Who knows, we just know it happened. Such is the same for ShopSee. Wait and see.
