Wireless Power Consortium launches Ki standard for Ki cordless kitchen

Wireless Power ConsortiumEveryone is talking about smart homes these days.  And the room where “smart” is becoming the name of the game is the kitchen. The Wireless Power Consortium’s Ki standard builds upon this trend by eliminating power cords and delivering up to 2200 watts of power wirelessly to smart cordless kitchen appliances.

Ki power transmitters can be built into hybrid induction cooktops or soon mounted and hidden under kitchen countertops or tables for a clean, ultra-modern look.

Advantages of a Ki Cordless Kitchen:

Convenience – Ki eliminates the mess and inconvenience of power cords in the kitchen. Place a Ki-enabled appliance on a Ki transmitter and it’s ready to turn on. Take it off the power source and it immediately shuts off. And without power cords, Ki appliances are much easier to handle, store and clean.

Safety: Power is only transmitted when a Ki-enabled device is placed on the transmitter and switched on. Remove a Ki-enabled appliance from a Ki cooktop or hidden transmitter and the area is cool to the touch so there’s no risk of burns. And eliminating the clutter of power cords means reduced risk of someone or something getting caught up in the cords and causing an accident.

Space utilization: Ki adds flexibility and optimizes kitchen space. Whether it’s the added flexibility of a Ki-enabled cooktop or the magic of a Ki transmitter hidden under a countertop or table, Ki makes the most of your kitchen space.

Look for Ki appliances to begin to appear at retail in early 2025.
